As the summer of 2020 winds down and we approach the fall, we wanted to take a moment to update our customers, vendors, and others as to the current state at P.L. Custom Body and Equipment Co., Inc. Our three operating divisions are PL Custom Emergency Vehicles, Rescue 1, and New Jersey Emergency Vehicles. We all work out of our 110,000 sq. ft. facility on our almost twelve-acre campus in Manasquan, NJ.

2020 has been a challenging year for all of us and we here at PL Custom were not immune to the upheavals brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier this year on March 23, we chose to hit the “pause” button on overall production for the safety of our personnel. This was the right and responsible thing to do. The pause continued for 6 weeks, but during that time we were still able to complete in-process rescues and ambulances for our valued customers. Back at full operational strength by early May, the impacts of COVID-19 had begun to drop here in New Jersey. Despite other parts of the country seeing increasing rates, we are seeing a continuing downturn. This is a welcome and continuing trend!

We have maintained a 100% healthy workforce here at PL Custom and are very proud of all of our employees for their commitment to their heath and safety as well as all others. Customers and dealers are cautiously and strategically welcomed back to the plant while simultaneously maintaining adherence with social distancing recommendations.

In anticipation of an increase in our customers’ apparatus needs, we have increased our stocking inventory and are encouraging our dealers to do the same. P.L. Custom Body and Equipment Co., Inc. has been here for almost 75 years and we always have our eyes open for what is coming next. Once we are all through this tumultuous year, we look forward to celebrating our three quarters of a century anniversary with you all!
