The Command Unit Rescue
Rescue 1 Command Units are available in a number of variations and designs that range from a simple desk mounted in a rescue to a fully functional command post. Most traditional command units are designed with multiple work stations, a conference room and a slide out partition to increase the interior work space. Restrooms, comfort stations, diesel driven generators, light towers, and surveillance cameras are just a few of the many options that are available.

Reasons why a department would choose a Command Unit
What works great for one department doesn’t work for others. From structural fires to weather related disasters, the job requirements change. Some are hours long while others are weeks. The size and the complexity of each command unit built is driven by the community’s needs.
Are Command Units typically Walk-In or Walk-Around style?
Command scenes can be directed from the tailgate of an SUV, while others are on scene for extended durations of time. Command Units can be offered as a Walk In design or Walk Around with a front crew area.

What are some of the interior options available?
- Command unit layouts range from a desk with some cabinetry that is built into the crew area of a chassis to slide out partition that extends the working areas in the body.

What are some of the exterior options available?
- The Command Units are built with exterior storage compartments designed for the department’s equipment.

What type of cab/chassis are Command Units built on?
The command unit is normally designed to create an onsite office and not to transport members. The chassis can vary from large three door custom cabs to a two door commercial chassis. Whatever the requirements, Rescue 1 can supply the chassis platform.
